At Fakuma 2023, Nonnenmann is presenting an innovative dry ice blasting unit solution that ensures effective and gentle tool cleaning. This device, developed in cooperation with the manufacturer Alfred Kärcher, enables dry ice production from liquid CO2 directly in the device, thus avoiding storage and logistics problems. It is suitable for both planned tool maintenance and spontaneous cleaning tasks. All that is needed for operation is a CO2 riser bottle, a compressed air connection and a 230 V mains connection. With various nozzles and intuitive operation, the unit is flexible and easy to use. This new dry ice blasting unit, combined with the existing Prop New cleaning unit, offers a comprehensive solution for tool maintenance, reduces downtime and optimises the production process.

The special feature of this new development is that previous storage and logistics problems, which are often associated with the use of dry ice, are bypassed. The integrated production of the dry ice eliminates time-consuming preparations and allows companies to react spontaneously as well as situationally to cleaning needs, which is invaluable especially in a dynamic production environment.

All that is needed to operate the unit is a CO2 riser bottle, a compressed air connection and a 230 V mains connection, which greatly simplifies handling and implementation in existing operating procedures. The unit is not only highly functional, but also designed to be user-friendly. Thanks to various nozzle options and an intuitive user interface, the cleaning device can be flexibly adapted to different degrees of contamination and tool types.

Another advantage of this dry ice blasting unit is that it is gentle on the surfaces to be cleaned. Unlike many other cleaning methods, dry ice blasting does not damage the tools, even polished surfaces remain untouched. The dry ice loosens and removes the dirt at the same time, which means that no further cleaning or finishing steps are required.

The new dry ice blasting unit complements Nonnenmann's existing Prop New cleaning unit, which is particularly suitable for internal soiling in temperature control systems. The combination of these two devices offers companies a comprehensive solution for the entire mould cleaning process. By using these systems preventively and regularly, companies can ensure the longevity of their moulds and significantly reduce unplanned mould downtime and associated costs.

According to the company, the dry ice blasting unit marks a significant advancement in the world of tool maintenance. It offers efficient, effective and at the same time gentle cleaning that helps to increase productivity in injection moulding production and minimise downtime
