Compared with its predecessors, Hydroforce HT has a more compact and stable design, including a 40% thicker front wall cross-section. This is claimed to provide increased rigidity and to deliver improved cutting parameters and better results.

Widia said that the chuck’s clamping force is up to three times better than regular hydraulic chucks and has improved vibration dampening, with runout at three microns at 2x diameter overhang. Balance quality of G2.5 is claimed at speeds up to 25,000 rpm. Direct clamping is available for 20 and 32 mm (0.75 and 1.5 in.) diameters and reducer sleeves are applied for all other diameters.

Widia said that the Hydroforce HT is more cost-effective than thermo shrink-fitting operations and offers up to four times more clamping force than collet chucks, along with higher balancing quality performance than power milling chucks. The company asserted that the new chuck simplifies inventory while, at the same time, maximizing tool life and machining results. It is suitable for milling, drilling, reaming, and other rotating applications.
