Hot Runner Systems – Ewikon has just launched a high-performance hot runner system, which can produce small parts with shot weights from 0.05 g on small-injection moulding machines, that will be presented at Fakuma 2017 in Friedrichshafen.
The company notes that the system provides reliable processing of a broad range of materials including technical resins. It comes in three standard compact layouts with two, four or six nozzles and fits standard mould sizes for small-injection moulding machines. Measuring only 61x48 mm, the compact system can be integrated into smaller moulds easily, like in Babyplast micro-injection moulding machines. The system is suitable too for processing thermal sensitive material, thanks to the short, total flow-path lengths in the system, where only a small melt volume needs to be exchanged, Ewikon explains.
The slim hot runner nozzles feature powerful direct heating. Despite the small 10 mm-outer diameter and the 3 mm-flow channel diameter, a compact coil heater with thermocouple has been integrated into precise cut-outs in the melt-bearing pressure tube. The design enables stable heating with little heat loss resulting in an even temperature profile along the whole length of the nozzle and improved heat input in the gate area. This ensures constantly high-thermal performance guaranteeing reliable processing of technical materials, Ewikon claims. The nozzles with leak-proof screws connected to the manifold by a nut allows free rotation of the nozzle and connection cables until it is tightened. Such a cable alignment saves further installation space.
The hot runner is offered as a complete hot half or a ready-to-install unit with pre-installed nozzles.
At Fakuma, Ewikon will be in Hall A2, Booth 2203.
