According to the supplier, the drills use a newly designed straighter cutting edge that was found to offer a smoother cutting action for improved penetration at the highest feeds and speeds. The edge is also said to work effectively in tandem with the Miracle Sigma-based coating to provide excellent tool life.

The reworked double margin flute provides high hole accuracy, efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes, Mitsubishi said. Moreover, Mitsubishi has optimised its Tri-Coolant holes for MQL, which have shown to improve coolant flow where it matters most, at the cutting point of the drill, the supplier added.
