High-cavitation moulds leave impression

Turkey – You get what you pay for - the old saying has recently proved true for a Turkish manufacturer of appliances. The firm reverted to using more expensive, high-quality cavitation systems, resulting in shorter cycle times.

Eight years ago, a large Turkish appliance company replaced their Mold-Masters runner systems with equipment from a lower spec manufacturer based solely on price. The company uses many packaging parts in their appliances that are ‘throw away’ items that run on low cavitation moulds running at 30-40 second cycles. Eventually, the firm wanted to move to a higher cavitation system and again considered Mold-Masters, said to be suitable for high cavitation, fast-cycling moulds.

Suitable for fast-cycling moulds

The Turkish company worked with the Mold-Masters Turkey sales team who explained why Mold-Masters systems are suitable for high-cavitation, fast-cycling moulds and that Mold-Masters was committed to supporting the toolmakers during the tool design.

The first order for a 24-cavity valve gate and temperature controller system came in 2015. During trials, the customer used the Mold-Masters Tempmaster M1. Positive results are said to have led to orders of three M1 units in January to run alongside the firm’s other high cavitation systems. Tests took place in October with 12-second cycles. Even though there was no conscious effort to improve cycles, by late 2015 the system ran at 5.3 seconds. Happy with the results, the company placed five orders for open gate systems, ranging from 8-32 drops. Three of the systems were delivered in January and the other two will be delivered in March.
