Hot halves with RFID technology

The data management of existing moulds has always been an important aspect when it is a question of maintenance, repairs and the ordering of spare parts.

HASCO hot runner is treading new and innovative paths here, bringing RFID technology to hot runner systems. With an in-house adapted variant of the Mould Tag, it is possible to read out all data on the hot half or a wired system directly on a smartphone.

Newly ordered hot halves and wired systems are supplied from now on directly with an integrated Mould Tag. The RFID technology adapted for the hot runner technology thus enables the updated and clear display of all relevant data for the hot runner system directly on a smartphone.

Proof of originality – Unambiguous identification

The new HASCO Mould Tag A5910/… is provided with an RFID chip (radio frequency identification) and enables the easy and reliable digitalisation of original HASCO standard mould units in injection moulding tools. Whereas bar codes or QR codes can be easily copied, the Mould Tag offers unambiguous identification with forgery-proof certification of origin.

Direct access to current information and CAD data of the hot runner system

As with the HASCO Mould Tag, which allows direct access to all relevant product information such as order reference, product category, product type, material number or maximum mould size in order to ensure correct installation of the mould units, the stored data can also always be kept up to date with the hot runner systems. This means that should changes come about through reconstruction, they are directly adjusted in the system and are thus available in an updated version without any need for the customer to intervene. This excludes any possibility of confusion after buying replacements for worn parts.

The app contains not only part lists or specifications of the systems, it is also possible to download or dispatch assembly drawings in PDF form or 3D constructions of the entire system. An expansion of the Mould Tag as with the USB storage medium used so far is not necessary.

Newly ordered hot halves are equipped with immediate effect with this technology without any additional costs. Only the HASCO app is needed to use them. By clicking the NFC Scan and moving the NFC-capable end-device close to the Mould Tag, all data about the hot runner system can be called up directly in the app.

HASCO is the first supplier of standard mould units on the market to come up with this intelligent solution – once again defining the standard with increasing digitalisation in the world of mouldmaking.
