Global additive manufacturing revenues climbed to 24.2 billion dollars in 2025, but the latest Wohlers Report shows a market in transition rather than in acceleration. Growth is increasingly driven by services and higher utilization of installed capacity, while regional disparities and tighter investment conditions reshape the competitive landscape.

Wohlers Associates, powered by ASTM International, has released a new report about the Additive Manufacturing market. The report offers a data-driven assessment of how growth, utilization, and investment patterns are shifting across the global AM landscape.

Now in its 31st year, the Wohlers Report remains the most widely cited annual analysis of the AM industry. The 2026 edition reflects a market characterized less by rapid system expansion and more by increasing utilization of installed capacity, regional divergence, and policy-driven dynamics shaping adoption.

According to Wohlers Report 2026, global AM revenues reached 24.2 billion dollars in 2025, representing 10.9 percent year-over-year growth, a slight uptick from 2024 but well below the 20+ percent growth rates seen prior to the pandemic. Printing services accounted for the largest share of the market at 48 percent, followed by system sales and servicing (26 percent), materials (20 percent), and software (6 percent). These figures point to a maturing industry where value creation is increasingly concentrated in production and service delivery rather than new hardware sales.

“Additive manufacturing is no longer advancing on a single, uniform growth curve,” said Dr. Mahdi Jamshid, director of market intelligence at Wohlers Associates. “What we see in Wohlers Report 2026 is an industry adjusting to tighter capital conditions, more selective investment, and higher expectations for utilization and return. Growth continues, but it is more uneven, more regional, and more closely tied to real production outcomes.”

The report highlights strong growth in AM services, which grew 15.5 percent in 2025, compared with a more modest rebound of 3.6 percent in system sales. Regional trends also diverged sharply, with companies in the Asia-Pacific region reporting average revenue growth of 19.8 percent, compared with 12.6 percent in the Americas and 9.0 percent in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The Wohlers Report 2026 is available now through ASTM International’s digital platform and can be found at platform.wohlersassociates.com.
