Fanuc to debut its new injection moulding machine in Europe

The 450 tonne machine – the Roboshot α-S450iA - will be one of the firm’s show stoppers at the upcoming l trade show for plastic processing, Fakuma, which is scheduled to be held in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

The Japan-based company will be showcasing the ‘Roboshot α-S450iA’ at Fakuma 2018, the international exhibition for plastics processing. The 450-tonne all-electric injection moulding machine (IMM) will be making its debut in the European market from this trade fair.

Across diverse industries, for example, automotive, medical or pharmaceutical devices, there is a need for larger and stronger machines with higher clamping forces when one wants to obtain larger platen sizes and tie bar distances for higher cavity numbers and bigger moulds. These industries are always on the lookout for solutions that offer faster, efficient production along with higher precision.

Keeping in mind its customers’ requirements, Fanuc added a bigger and heavier machine to its existing portfolio of six other machines that boast of clamping forces between 150 and 3000kN. The brand new Roboshot α-S450iA is offering superior performance and reliability than the older machines: It is equipped with a clamping force of 4500kN and boasts of a tie bar distance of 920mm by 920mm, a clamping stroke of 900mm, a 1300mm by 1300mm platen size and a maximum die height of 1000mm. The all-electric injection moulding machine also ensures higher flexibility with the assistance of four different screw sizes that are used for the two basic injection units.

Greater efficiency

Components that are produced with complex geometries and produced in large quantities require higher precision especially in terms of surface quality, contour accuracy, weight stability and reproducibility. This is where the Roboshot comes into play. The electric injection moulding machine provides an unique electric moulding solution. In addition, it comes with an efficient energy recovery control function, reliable torque plasticise control – Precise Metering Control (PMC) 2&3 – as well as backflow monitor and highly efficient AI mould / ejector protection. All these elements ensure high-end process performance and product quality.

Apart from this stunning piece of technology, there are many other solutions that will be displayed at Fakuma including the new α-S450iA, the Robonano α-NMiA, the Roboshot LINKi, Euromap 77, and many others. With so many innovative solutions to be displayed at Fakuma 2018, Fanuc aims to ensure that there is something for every industry requirement and surely knows how to keep the ambience of the event upbeat and lively.
