Trade fair promoters P. E. Schall and Messe Friedrichshafen have renewed their cooperation agreement, securing the Fakuma international trade fair for plastics processing at the Lake Constance venue until at least 2030.

“It’s a clear sign of confidence in Friedrichshafen as a trade fair venue when it’s favoured by the promoters of such a significant industry event with international appeal. Fakuma is an important economic factor for local service providers and companies throughout the Lake Constance region,” emphasises Andreas Hein, chairman of the supervisory board of the Friedrichshafen Exhibition Centre and mayor of the city of Friedrichshafen.

Explaining the decision, Bettina Schall, managing director of P. E. Schall, notes: “The Friedrichshafen venue is not only notable for its functionality, short distances and professional team, but also for its friendly atmosphere. The industry feels very much at home here, and we recognise significant potential for the continued successful development of Fakuma.”

Messe Friedrichshafen’s managing director Klaus Wellmann and business manager Stefan Mittag also underline the long-standing partnership: “Our motivation is, and always will be, to provide the organisers with best possible support, and over the years we’ve grown together into a well-coordinated team. We’ve been hosting Fakuma for four decades now and, with our experience, we enjoy ideal prospects for maintaining our position as the leading venue for the international plastics industry in the future.” They add that the cross-border economic strength of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein remains a key factor in Fakuma’s success.

P. E. Schall ranks among Germany’s largest private trade fair promoters. In addition to Fakuma, Modellbau Bodensee has been a key part of the Friedrichshafen trade fair calendar for more than 20 years, organised by Messe Sinsheim, a fully owned Schall subsidiary. “The most recent event attracted 50,000 model-building enthusiasts, which is an extraordinary success. This makes it the largest event of its kind anywhere in the world. Its unique selling point comprises a comprehensive range of model building activities, the opportunity for exhibitors to reach national markets and a strong focus on interactive visitor experiences. The exhibition grounds, with their extensive versatility – including a lake and an adjacent airport for model aircraft demonstrations – offer ideal conditions to this end,” reports authorised signatory Andreas Wittur.

The 30th Fakuma will take place in Friedrichshafen from 12 to 16 October 2026. At the previous edition in 2024, more than 1,600 exhibitors presented their innovations, with 47.5 percent coming from outside Germany, underscoring the trade fair’s high level of internationality.
