To mark the 30th edition of Fakuma, which will take place this year from Monday, 12 October, to Friday, 16 October, companies are invited to submit entries for the Fakuma Innovation Award. Presented for the first time in this anniversary year, the award will recognise technological excellence, innovative strength and teamwork within the plastics processing industry. Submissions are now open in six categories spanning a broad range of topics across the entire value chain. Entries will be assessed by an independent expert jury. The awards ceremony will take place on the opening day of the trade fair in Friedrichshafen.

Projects can be submitted in one of six categories: injection moulding, extrusion, recycling, tool and die making/thermoforming, compounding and materials, and plastics technology enablers such as peripheral equipment. In this way, the competition reflects the full plastics technology value chain, from materials and processing methods through to ancillary technologies. The Fakuma Innovation Award is intended to cover the entire thematic spectrum of the trade fair, including peripheral equipment and automation solutions.

One key requirement is that the submitted project must be capable of being presented live at Fakuma 2026, either as a production-ready product, a functioning prototype or a live technology demonstration. Participation is free of charge. Entries may be submitted online until 6 September 2026. All submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by an independent expert jury on the basis of defined criteria. The most promising innovations will be honoured at a festive awards ceremony organised by trade fair promoter P. E. Schall in cooperation with its media partner.

“We cordially invite all plastics processing companies to submit their entries for the 2026 Fakuma Innovation Award,” says Bettina Schall, Managing Director of trade fair promoters P. E. Schall. “The industry is looking forward to receiving exciting entries that provide benefits, pioneer new approaches and help tackle future challenges.”
