Germany - Formnext 2016 lived up to everyone's expectations: The 2016 edition of Frankfurt's tool, mould, pattern and additive manufacturing show attracted 13,384 visitors from 15 to 18 November, a 49% increase on the inaugural show last year (8,982 visitors in 2015), organiser Mesago said.

For four days, this year’s Formnext powered by tct wowed visitors from across the globe with its diverse array of developments and world premieres. 307 exhibitors presented their cutting-edge portfolios to 13,384 attendees and informed them about the efficient realisation of parts and products from design to serial production. Sascha F. Wenzler, VP of Formnext at event organiser Mesago Messe Frankfurt, was clearly pleased with this year’s results:

“Formnext 2016 sets a clear statement. It has already established itself in the event calendars of all related industries. This success is underlined by an increase of 50% in exhibitor numbers.from 28 countries and an increase of 49% in trade visitors.”

Formnext: A new home for the international AM industry?

18/11/2015 - Germany - Formnext 2015 attracted 8.982 visitors, 42% came from outside Germany, organiser Mesago announced. The atmosphere in Frankfurt's Hall 3.1 was good, the show was very professional and exhibitors were busy. The topic of additive manufacturing (AM) - and specifically the question how the full-scale industrialisation of AM can be achieved in a rapid and cost-effective manner - dominated the showground. Tool and mould makers were there, but organiser Mesago didn't deliver the amount of exhibitors coming from the tool, die and mould making sector as one would expect from an "international exhibition on AM and toolmaking". read...

An international business platform

Another impressive aspect of Formnext 2016 was its international flavour, with 44% of visitors attending from outside of Germany, Mesago said. They included representatives from global OEMs and leading firms from a range of industries. The high level of visitor traffic and excellent overall atmosphere resulted in some very happy exhibitors, as well:

“During the first days our booth was completely crowded with international qualified visitors, among them representatives from OEMs as Bosch and BMW. Overall an extremely positive trade show experience,” says Uri Resnik, CEO at OR Laser from Dieburg, Germany.

“For us Formnext is every year the starting point for developing our 3D future,” adds Massimo Petrilli, Sales and Marketing Manager at Sisma S.p.A., Piovene Rocchette, from Italy.

Conference features top speakers on sports, science and industry

In cooperation with tct, the Formnext conference took a closer look at the future of additive manufacturing on all four days of the exhibition. Its prominent speakers included German Paralympic champion Denise Schindler and numerous world-renowned experts from the field of 3D printing. The conference drew a total of 647 participants (day passes reserved) from 25 countries, who broadened their knowledge of current and future developments and examples of specific applications.

Promoting creative minds and start-ups

Also attracting considerable interest on the Formnext agenda were two competitions: the Start-up Challenge and the Purmundus Challenge. The creative ideas submitted to these events from the world of 3D printing allowed attendees a glimpse of the future possibilities in additive production. In the Start-up Area, visitors also had the opportunity to marvel at exhibits of the year’s winning entries from young entrepreneurs.

The next Formnext powered by tct is scheduled to take place on 14 – 17 November 2017 in Frankfurt am Main.
