Materials EuroPM Congress draws powder metallurgy industry to Basel this September
The Congress Centre in Basel, Switzerland, hosts Euro PM2012, the international congress and exhibition of the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA), on 16–19 September. An all-inclusive Technical Programme and Registration brochure is available from EPMA.
Euro PM2012 is sponsored and organised by the EPMA in cooperation with key members of the PM community in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The annual Euro PM congress provides a meeting point for PM industry professionals, researchers and suppliers, enabling them to network and develop their businesses.
This year’s congress provides customised programmes for the PM sectors of hard materials and diamond tooling, powder injection moulding, and hot isostatic pressing, and, for the first time, it includes a programme on PM applications and new processes. Some 200 technical papers will be presented in 23 oral and poster sessions, and four in-depth special-interest seminars are featured on the final day. On the afternoon of the 19th, tours of Kennametal AMSG GmbH, which supplies hot-isostatic-pressing technology, and Hartmetall AG, which makes standard and custom tungsten carbide blanks, conclude the congress.
Keynote speakers at the opening plenary session on Monday, 17 September are Ingo Cremer, president of the EPMS, who presents an “Overview of Status and Trends in the European PM Industry”, and Dr. Carl Hauser of TWI Ltd. in the UK, whose talk is entitled “Powder Metallurgy Applications in Additive Manufacturing”.
The Euro PM social programme comprises a welcome reception, an exhibition/poster reception and a gala dinner.
