Sandvik Coromant Enhanced machining with improved coolant targeting
The system boosts productivity, even for difficult materials.
Sandvik Coromant’s range of new insert geometries and customised tool holders feature fixed nozzles for precise coolant jet flow to the centre of the cutting zone, the company said.
Additionally, advanced nozzle technology improves chip control and extends tool life leading to predictable machining, it noted. Moreover, productivity can be increased in difficult-to-machine materials regardless of the pressure used.
When using low pressure, the Coro Turn HP holders with high-precision nozzles provide improved chip control and better process security in steel and other common materials, thus outperforming regular tool holders which can flood coolant.
For demanding materials like duplex stainless steel and HRSA material, where higher coolant pressure is needed, Coro Turn HP nozzle technology combined with the new -SMC, -MMC, - PMC insert geometries is used, Sandvik added. It noted that the standard holders and inserts even allow for pressures up to 275 bar.
