EMG Presses, a leading manufacturer of manual, pneumatic, mechanical and hydropneumatic presses, is launching an innovation dedicated to the needs of monitoring and total traceability of industrial processes. This new equipment, officially distributed in the United Kingdom by Berger Tools enables permanent and accurate quality control and anomaly detection on rack and pinion, toggle or pneumatically operated bench machines used in manual, automated or semi-automated workstations.

Suitable for use in the most challenging industrial environments, this plug-and-play solution enables the production of compliant parts right from the manufacturing stage and includes multi-programme management, sequence programming, statistics provision and can be an important part of any SPC process.

Stéphane Long, CEO & Sales Manager France and Export, emphasises: “At a time when production lines are undergoing digital transformation, we had to offer an agile and easily integrable solution. The complete EMG-Control ecosystem is a turnkey solution which, as a first or second fit, enables manufacturers to digitise their workshops independently.”

EMG-Control offers a wide variety of standard measurement applications, either simple or combined, such as: Force – Force and distance – Force/time – Distance/time. Specific solutions can be offered according to requirements.

Measurements can be displayed in the form of bar graphs, smileys, numerical values, curves, and allow the user to view measurement history in real time in graph form. A sequence editor allows total control over the display and measurement process.

Anomalies are detected immediately if the required parameters are not met. The monitoring unit displays an “OK” or “NOK” message via an optical display, an audible signal, or by locking the press in position. This signal allows the operator to immediately isolate the non-compliant part.

The plug-and-play sensor with TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) technology is self-calibrating and, when connected to the display, is automatically recognised and configured, eliminating the need for manual configuration. The information is stored in the control unit and can be exported to a PC for analysis, statistics or archiving purposes.

Data transfer is provided, depending on the version, via USB-A port (Host = USB key), USB-C (device = keyboard emulation), COM (ASCII or Modbus RTU protocol), Ethernet (Modbus TCP or file generation on server). It is Adaptable to all brands of presses and automated machines.

Paul Marks, General Manager of Berger Tools, explains: “Although primarily designed for EMG manual and pneumatic press ranges, the EMG-Control solution is also available in the form of adaptation kits for all brands of manual and pneumatic presses, as well as for automated machines or semi-automated workstations, with the addition, as required, of modules and terminals to ensure optimum connectivity.”

Accessories such as panel mounting brackets are also available.
