DLC-coating is a diamond-like-carbon layer which is applied on moving components running unlubricated, the company explains. The coating can also extend the maintenance intervals. DLC is the successor for WCC coatings.

As of 1 November, all square guide bars from the series Z 46 will have DLC-coating. Simultaneously, those from Z 48, which are no longer needed, will be phased-out, Strack notes.

The DLC-coating on the guiding bar increases service life and ensures high resistance to scratches and wear of the surface, the company adds. Furthermore, the coating is said to reduce the susceptibility to corrosion, while guaranteeing a homogeneous coating thickness. By using DLC-coated components, the maintenance costs can be reduced by up to 80%, Strack claims. It adds that in cleanroom technology, DLC-coated components are enjoying growing popularity as lubrication is not required.
