The Design award went to Schaudt Mikrosa for its Kronos S 250 centerless external cylindrical grinding machine. The citation recognised the manner in which design and functionality complement each other. The machine is designed for high-volume production in the high-precision segment and for the plunge and through-feed grinding of workpieces in the 1.5 to 35 mm diameter range. It has a plunge grind width of up to 245 mm. The machine’s design is geared towards ergonomics, the company says.
