According to the supplier, fine centering is necessary due to a required clearance fit when pairing pillars and bushes as a result of a warming process inside the tool.

The centering unit is offered in different dimensions to be able to absorb the forces for the different mould sizes respectively. The positioning in the tool is done via centerlines or diagonals to compensate different thermal expansions in the two mould halves, Strack Norma explains.

The screwing of the centering units can optionally be done from the parting plane or the back side. To guarantee resistance torsion of the centering units, the lateral pin holes or alternatively those in the bearing surface have to be used. One advantage is that the boring can be spindled and thus has a higher position accuracy in the tool, the company says.
