Mapal Präzisionswerkzeuge Dr. Kress Cost-per-part savings with indexable insert
One of the leading international suppliers of precision tools Mapal Präzisionswerkzeuge Dr. Kress says its HPR400 reamers are cost-effective multi-bladed tools.
Germany-based Mapal says its HPR400 reamers provide faster application data and straightforward insert-changing by the customer on-site, thanks to the extremely accurate insert seats. As such, WIP inventory and reconditioning costs are kept to a minimum.
To further improve cost-effectiveness for larger diameters, the indexable inserts in the HPR400 plus now come with four cutting edges instead of one, which is what had been available until now. This also enables the optimal use of cutting material, the company adds.
Mapal claims that its exacting standards in technical production also guarantee that the indexable inserts with four cutting edges are precisely manufactured so that it can be turned or changed easily on location by the customer. Insert stock levels can be reduced as a result.
