Germany – With its new control unit featuring the fieldbus interface Profinet IO, Schubert System Elektronik has responded to the trend in machine tool technology to replace Profibus with Profinet, the company says.

Profinet is based on the open, real-time capable Ethernet TCP/IP standard and is ideal for applications requiring fast data communication via Ethernet networks, with simultaneous transmission options for requirement data and parameters, diagnoses, alarms and IT-functions.

For Schubert, Profinet provides a range of advantages. More functions can be integrated, more parameters changed and more tools controlled, the supplier says. It adds that all scanners of the type series “TK9” can directly be connected to the new control unit and all functions are fully compatible with systems featuring other fieldbus interfaces.
