RE: My company has launched production Oracle environment and we can't choose IDE. What would you recommend?
There are a lot of Oracle SQL IDEs available. Most of them are paid - they require you to pay to use them. If you’re looking for a free tool, I’ve listed the best of them in this post.
SQL Developer
Oracle’s very own SQL Developer is one of the best free tools. I think it’s one of the best SQL IDEs overall - including the paid tools. It’s my pick of this list and the one I have most experience with.
It has been around for a long time, and is constantly improving. Early versions were not as good as recent versions (just search for any reviews or comments older than a few years and you’ll see). However, over the last few years, more features have been added and bugs have been resolved.
It’s created by Oracle so it is in no danger of losing money. It’s available on Windows, Mac, and Linux, which is helpful if you’re not running a Windows computer.
Also, it does not require installation. Simply unzip the downloaded file and you’re good to go.
