CG Tech, known for its Vericut verification, simulation and optimisation software, has entered into a reseller agreement with Bristol-based Icomat, which specialises in a tape-steering process for the manufacture of composite components. Under the terms of this global agreement, Icomat will market and support a customised version of Vericut's VCP/VCS software, tailored to its unique composite manufacturing process.

Since its inception in 2019, Icomat has grown significantly, with nearly 30 employees and an outpost in Athens. The company's growth strategy includes doubling its workforce within the next year, with the aim of driving further international development.

Icomat's unique manufacturing process, called Rapid Tow Shearing (RTS), addresses the limitations of traditional composite part design, which often results in increased material usage, weight and cost. The company’s approach allows for flawless steering of composite tapes, optimising structures for weight reduction, reduced raw material usage and cost effectiveness.

The Icomat setup includes a unique tape laying head connected to a six-axis industrial robot arm, all housed in a safety enclosure. The system is programmed and virtually simulated using a special version of Vericut VCP/VCS software designed specifically for Icomat's technology. Icomat will be the exclusive worldwide distributor of this software.
