Hermle British rapid prototyping firm expands 5-axis machining
A German VMC was the latest addition.
A Hermle 5-axis vertical machining centre has been installed at the Stirling, UK, works of CA Models, which the company said increases its 5-axis machining capacity to a total of six machines, including two mill-turns.
The one-off and small-batch production specialist uses a wide range of additive manufacturing equipment to fulfil its rapid prototyping service, but also needs subtractive metalcutting for producing larger parts and those made from materials that cannot be built layer by layer.
Some of these components are complex, which was said to be one of the reasons the company purchased a Hermle C 40 U through the UK agent Geo Kingsbury.
