The improved processing capabilities are said to be due to new modelling and handling tools for extremely large mesh data sets included within the latest release.
One upgraded feature is the display resolution function, which reduces the mesh resolution when zooming out and panning. This is said to allow for more fluid movement. Furthermore, when focusing more closely on details of the model, the original resolution is restored, Schott Systeme explained.
One feature of the software suite that also allows for faster zooming, panning and repositioning is the STL reduce function, which, when calculating tool paths, is said to generate a separate file with a reduced mesh version that references the original STL model. When calculating tool paths on this reduced mesh, however, the system takes the accuracy directly from the original STL file, the supplier explained.
Further functions in this suite are said to include mesh analysis and repair tools to fix faulty meshes to ensure they are watertight. The company noted that the mesh editor includes vertex, edge and face modelling and editing operations, with mesh subdivision. Additional advanced functions in the suite include mesh undercut detection and mesh smoothing, according to the supplier.
