Mihai Dumitru has been Managing Director of Arburg Romania since January 2025. The 43-year-old sales expert aspires to take the subsidiary founded in Bucharest last spring to the next level in his large country. He has a team of ten experienced employees at his side. As an up-and-coming market in Europe, Romania offers considerable potential for Arburg.

The demand for sophisticated machines, systems and services is increasing continuously in Romania. This is due in part to the relocation of production by international companies. The most important sectors are automotive, electrics, electronics and medicine. Following the successful launch of the subsidiary in April 2024 with interim Managing Director Dr Daniel Orel, who heads Arburg Czech Republic on a full-time basis, management of this company is now in the hands of Mihai Dumitru, a Romania-focused specialist in.

Mihai Dumitru describes the current market situation in his country as challenging. To succeed in Romania, he is also relying on his experienced team, as the majority of employees have been taken on from Arburg’s long-standing trading partner.

The new Managing Director has great confidence in his decentralised service team: “My employees are positioned at strategic points in Romania, looking after customers locally and familiar with their requirements and needs. We ensure that our technology and contacts are reliably available to our customers when they need them. Sales, service, training — we offer everything from a single source, in line with our brand promise ‘Wir sind da’.” Arburg is known in Romania as a manufacturer of high-end injection moulding machines. Mihai Dumitru sees further potential, particularly in the areas of automation and digitalisation. He also wishes systematically to expand the market with the spare parts business and maintenance. “To an increasing extent, we want to provide maintenance cover through professional contracts and digital media. In my view, this is the future.”

With his academic background as an engineer specialising in applied electronics and automation, and with his many years of experience in business development, Mihai Dumitru is ideally qualified for his management role in Romania.

Before taking up his position at Arburg, the sales expert established well-known international companies in his country and built up a subsidiary. Mihai Dumitru views the excellent reputation of the Arburg parent company as a great advantage in the quest to achieve market leadership in the country.

Arburg has been present on the Bosporus for 58 years. The Turkish subsidiary was founded in 1996 and has been based in Beylikdüzü near Istanbul since 2005. Engin Malcan and his team have very successfully and dynamically developed Arburg in Turkey into one of the company's key bases over the past 24 years and have contributed significantly to Arburg's reputation beyond the country's borders. Under Engin Malcan's leadership, several thousand machines and robotic systems have been installed, for which an excellently trained and technically skilled team is responsible for service and after-sales. Arburg owes him a great debt of gratitude for his decades of commitment.

The strategically favourable location between the countries of Europe, the Arab states and close to the Caucasus opens up a wide market with great growth opportunities and an increasing share of exports to Africa, Asia and the USA. Since 2021, the Turkish Arburg Service has also been supporting customers in Egypt, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Bulgaria with the maintenance and commissioning of projects. Countries such as Korea, Japan and China are increasingly investing in production facilities in Turkey. “Over the past ten years, Turkey has developed into a hub for the production of white goods, automotive, packaging, the food and beverage industry and medical technology,” says Çağrı Ünver, outlining the great opportunities for the attractive Arburg location.
