Just in time for the Grinding Hub, the latest Wimmer development, the FSA 383 fully automatic chamfer grinding machine with a new loading magazine for large series, will be introduced. The universal machine grinds perfect bevels on blanks and semi-finished products made of carbide, HSS and other hard materials in a diameter range from 3 to 25 mm. It specialises solely in this type of machining, which keeps process costs low, cycle times short and productivity high.

With the modern Siemens control system and the user-friendly machine programme, the chamfer angle can be continuously preset in the range from 25 to 60 degrees, the chamfer width, the grinding feed rate and the burn-out time. The adjustable servo drive for the spindle feed guarantees high positioning and repeat accuracy with the precision guides and the ball screw.

The grinding wheel is measured by a laser light barrier and wear is automatically compensated. Centralised lubrication prevents the moving parts from running dry and saves on maintenance.

The newly developed infeed and outfeed system reliably transports the workpiece from the magazine to the work area and, after grinding, from the machine back to the storage area. The clamping device is sensor-monitored to prevent disc and workpiece breakage as well as input errors.

The machine is fully enclosed. The electrical guard locking and the separate safety circuit guarantee a high level of work and machine safety. The machine works with grinding oil or emulsion. The coolant is valve-controlled and flow-monitored. The feed switches off immediately if the coolant supply is interrupted. The optimised spray cooling on the tool ensures high working accuracy and a long service life of the grinding wheel

Further innovations will be presented with a clamping system for the automatic cutting of bar bundles of over 100 pieces (depending on diameter) in one cut on the automatic cut-off machine and a bar loader for the fully automatic cut-off machine FT200 for raw lengths of up to 3,000 mm.
